How does Brick Night work?

Edited

Brick Night allows a user to define their range for their blocked space (typically a bedroom), set the time window they want protected, and select the apps they want blocked. When a user enters their blocked space during their set time window, they are automatically Bricked - no reminders, repeated tapping, or willpower required. In order to Unbrick during the time window, a user must leave their blocked space.

Brick Night communicates directly with your phone over Bluetooth, so it does not need to connect to your home Wi-Fi to detect when you enter or leave your blocked space.

You may still need an internet connection for certain app functions, such as initial account setup or software updates, or other online Brick features, but the core Brick Night proximity experience is powered by Bluetooth and your device's batteries.

Where should I keep the Brick Night?

Brick Night is perfect for a night stand, dresser, or desk. It works best when closest to where you want to be Bricked. For a more consistent experience, we recommend keeping the device flat on any surface and away from water and metal objects that might interfere with the Bluetooth signal.

Will it work in small spaces?

Brick Night works in studios and other small spaces! During setup, you’ll set your Brick Night to create a space that fits your room, and outlines your blocked space.

How does Brick Night know when I’m in a specific room or location?

Brick Night uses Bluetooth signal strength to estimate how close your phone is to the device. You must keep your Bluetooth enabled and permissions on for Brick Night to work properly. Your blocked space can be up to roughly 25 x 25 feet. Even though your blocked space can span beyond a single room, for a more consistent experience, we recommend avoiding walls that separate your blocked space. Once configured, the Brick app monitors your proximity to the Brick Night device. When your phone enters your blocked space, your selected blocking behavior automatically activates. When you leave, the app recognizes that you’re outside of your blocked space and Unbricks your phone.

Does Brick Night track my location?

Brick Night does not track your location. Instead, it senses your proximity to the device using Bluetooth technology.
